Calling it a success

This is just a final recap post on our invisible fence. You can read more about it here: https://marmaladehollow.wordpress.com/2012/11/10/so-far-so-good/ It’s working better than I ever hoped and I can fully recommend this for anyone having issues, specifically, keeping livestock guardians (who love to wander) in!

We’ve yet to purchase a 2nd collar to put on Snow.  If you’ll remember, we took it off of her to put on King. She’s been collar free for several weeks now and like clockwork, she’s where she’s supposed to be every morning!

King needed the collar turned up to level 4 stimulation but his reaction to his corrective collar training has proven he’s not likely to test it. Neither he nor Snow like predators or things that don’t belong near, around or on the property and view the neighbor’s property as their domain as well.  I don’t quite see it that way =). They get to gettin’ after animals that don’t belong and forget all about exactly what is theirs and what is not. No longer is that an issue.

We had some friends come by the other day to see the pigs and King came up to where he knew he was allowed at the gate and that was as far as he’d go even with it open. Snow is the same way. I’m so glad we’ve found an alternative solution to this issue because both King and Snow are such fabulous, wonderful, hard working and loving animals and their natural instincts and behavior just need to be kept in check. It can be a little tough to alter that behavior when they were brought up differently than the way I need them to work (within a specific boundary). But, the invisible fence has proven invaluable and we’re so glad we put it in!
